One Week Old

Wow! The past week has FLOWN by! Cannot believe that Asher is already a week old. Thought I would FINALLY sit down and share how everything went down last week and what we have been doing the past week! I will start with Friday night. Gregg and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary Friday! We decided to go to Dothan and go shopping and go out to eat (with Kaidi). We had a very enjoyable evening. We went to BestBuy and bought ourselves our anniversary presents. We almost bought a new pot/pan set the other week when we had our date night, but we held off and we ended up buying laptops for each other. We have been talking about getting some for a while now and we bought it just in time to have it at the hospital with us when Asher was born. Also, new news to share, Gregg has a new job!! He starts with BB&T in Opp August 1. He is excited about the new position and opportunities and he is very excited about being back in Opp. Being back in Opp will alone save $300/month in gas! Anyway, back to Friday night. We went out to eat afterwards and then went to Target and picked up a few things and then headed home. We stayed up a little while after getting home and then I woke up about 7 Saturday morning and had a slow leak that I knew had to be that my water had broke. It was completely different from what it was with the twins, my water broke big time with them, but with Asher, it slowly leaked out even up until the time I walked in to the OR at 12:45! We took our time getting things ready and called my aunt who lives about an hour away for her to meet us at the hospital to get Kaidi. We arrived at the hospital around 8:30 and they checked me and sure enough it was amniotic fluid. They had another repeat c-section patient that had come in that morning with contractions 2 mins apart so she was ahead of me so the wait game started! Now I had not eaten anything since 7:30 the night before and was unable to eat ANYTHING or drink ANYTHING. I was miserable! The surgical team had a 6 hour shoulder surgery scheduled after my section so my doctor let them go to lunch real quick before they did my surgery. I was FINALLY taken back around 12:45 and Asher was born at 1:01! He came out screaming and it was such a great thing to hear. Something that is so strange to me is that, when I watch a Baby Story on TLC (while regnant)and the moment a baby is born on there, I am crying, but I have not cried at the birth of any of my 4 children. So strange! Anyway. He was born and was perfectly healthy and I was so surprised at how big he was and how much hair he had! My c-section went beautifully and the doctor said I had healed really well from my section with Kaidi. So far my recovery is going really well. I was able to go home on Monday. We left the hospital around 10:30 or so that morning. Hard to believe I wasn't even in the hospital 48 hours after a c-section! :) We came home and things seemed a little crazy to begin with. Kaidi hadn't seen us in a few days and we had company right after we got home and finally after everyone left, we got Kaidi down for a nap and then Asher, Gregg and I also took a nap. We ended up napping about 2 1/2 hours! It was NICE! Tuesday night our friends Lorrie and Ashton brought us supper. It was so good and I think Kaidi ate more than I did! She tore up some butter beans! :) Wednesday morning we had to take Asher to see Dr. Bang. We had an appointment at 9:30 and got there about 10 mins late and didn't leave there until after lunch! It was not a fun time with Kaidi! She was tired of being there and was hungry and can only eat so many "Goldbish". Asher's checkup went well and everything looked great. I am so proud that I am able to nurse him. I say that because I have had 4 kids now and he is the first one that I have successfully been able to breastfeed! :) After leaving the doctor, we went and picked up some lunch from IGA and then went and spent a few hours at my grandparents house for them to see Asher. They came to the hospital, but he had just been circumcised and it was gonna be another hour or longer before they would bring him back. It was a nice visit. When we got home that afternoon I was pretty tired and had probably done a little too much. My head had been hurting pretty bad all afternoon and it was from me clinching my jaw at night. I have TMJ pretty bad and haven't clinched that much in quite some time, I am sure from the pain with getting up and moving around in the night with Asher that I must have clinched more than I needed to and I paid for it the next day. Thursday morning we got up and headed over to Andalusia for me to see the doctor. It's always SO nice to go to the doctor after giving birth to an 8 lb baby and have only lost 7 lbs! LOL. I know that I am still retaining quite a bit of fluid though so I am not too worried! :) Thursday evening we had some more friends bring us a meal and it was another delicious dinner! My brother and his family came in late that evening and stayed a few days with us. It was very nice spending time with them and my sister in law was a HUGE help in playing with Kaidi and helping clean the kitchen. Kaidi has adjusted pretty well to the fact of having a little brother. She has to kiss him before she naps or goes to bed at night and as soon as she wakes, she has to go check on him. It's very sweet. The only thing she hasn't adjusted to is the fact that I can't pick her up! I didn't realize how much it had affected me either, but last night I had quite the breakdown about it! I feel so bad that I can't pick her up and I feel like she is starting to not like me because of it. I know she still loves me, but it is hard! Anyway. Last night we had to go and have pictures made for our church directory. It went really well and the complimentary picture we will receive is of Kaidi! :) We didn't like any of the pictures of us as a family and the ones of Kaidi and Asher, Asher's head was all wrinkled up and the one of Kaidi by herself was REALLY good so we decided to get it. Plus, we are having pictures taken on Monday of Asher and we are gonna do a few family pics too. When we got back from having our pictures made, we grilled steaks with Adam and Heather. It was oh so good! Steaks and baked potatoes and corn on the cob! MMMM! This morning we got up and went over to my grandparents for waffles and bacon/sausage. It was pretty early so Gregg stayed in the bed and me and the kids went. We spent a couple of hours over there and now I am just chilling at the house! Have no plans for today and I like it that way! :) Here are a few pics to share over the past week, and if I can get the video to work, I have a sweet video of Kaidi with Asher.
