B&K Memorial Foundation

I know I have mentioned before about my project for B&K. I just wanted to fill everyone in on what is going on with that. We are in the process of starting a non-profit organization called The B&K Memorial Foundation. We are having our first fund-raiser in a couple of months. We are going to have a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament. We are looking forward to it and pray that we have a wonderful turn-out. We have several things in mind with the money we raise. Our top priority is to raise enough money to sponsor a number of infants/toddlers in an Infant Swim course annually. We hope to bring an instructor in each year to teach self-rescue to babies and toddlers. I don't know if you have heard of this or not, but it is amazing. You can check it out at Infant Swim. It is an expensive class but I can tell you one little baby girl who will be doing it this summer! :) They can start this class at 6 months old. Something else that Gregg and I are passionate about for our organization to reach is Something for parent's who have lost a child. Whether it be literature on greiving, financial help with medical costs or burial costs or just being someone for them to talk to. We are also looking in to meeting with the city on some plans for an addition to our current park. We want to add some equipment that is designed for children ages 2-5. Our current equipment is great, but with small children you are constantly walking around with your hands up praying they don't fall from the top because it has a lot of open platforms and any one with toddlers can tell you that they have NO depth perception and no fear! :) I have found a "boundless" playground group that has railing throughout the entire set. Here is an example:
Now this one is HUGE, but GREAT! :) I have big plans for the foundation. I have also recently joined a new civic group that some young women in our community has started called The Khelpanan Society. One of it's main projects is a park for young children. Hopefully, working side by side, we can really make an impact in our community. :) Just pray for us, that things will come together and will really reach the ones it needs to. Gregg wants to put a bronze statue in the park of a young boy and girl to represent B&K. I think that is a wonderful idea. Anyway, just kinda updating everyone on this. We have a lot of stuff to do to get this going. I know we can do it, it's just a matter of staying on top of it. We have so many wonderful friends who are excited in helping us with this. I pray so much that we can reach people through B&K's story.

House Update:
They are finishing up everything in the house this week. We move in Friday!! :) Gregg and I were over there until 9:30 last night doing some cleaning. I cleaned the cabinets and tubs while Gregg took all the stickers off of the windows and cleaned up the garage. We are thrilled that it is so close. I started going through the roll top desk in our living room last night and found so much stuff of B&K's an entire, unopened pack of diapers, a box of wipes (i kept their diapers and wipes in a drawer in the roll top since it was easy access from the living room) I found a box of sidewalk chalk in there, several color wonder coloring books and marker, many books that were half chewed from Kenadi and her fetish of eating EVERYTHING.... there is so much... I really don't know what we are going to do with all their stuff.. i can't seem to want to part with anything, I know Kaidi will get some use out of a lot of their stuff, but there is so much that is personalized. It's hard. I had to go to the monument place on my lunch break today to get a copy of the etching to make sure it was like we wanted. I really didn't like it too much, i think i would rather do the picture in porcelain. the porcelain has a lifetime warranty and i feel like the etching, over time, would not look good. I really don't know what we will choose. We are going to look at a headstone of a boy that was killed in a car accident when I was in school. His dad told us that his was etched so we want to go look to see. We have to let her know something this week in hopes to get it in in time for their birthday May 9 which just so wonderfully falls on Mother's Day this year. :( Ugh.. well, I hope you all have a wonderful night. God Bless!

Just lifted you up in prayer! Your foundation sounds amazing! I'll be thinking about you on Mother's Day/B&K's birthday, but I know that Kaidi will bring a smile to your face that day!

I love your ideas for your foundation! I would love to help anyway I can in memory of Madyson. Also I wanted to tell you we did the porcelain on her headstone. I have pictures somewhere or it is at Beulah cemetery if you want to look at it.
