Cabinet Advice

Ok, So I HAVE to decide on my cabinet color/granite color THIS WEEK. I figured I would get a vote to see what everyone else thinks!
I am trying to decide if I want to do all of my cabinets
antique white or break it up and do my island black and the rest of them antique white. Here
are some pics so you can help me with your vote.
#1
My cabinets would be opposite of this, with the bar being black and the back cabinets being the antique white with opposite colored granite tops. This was my original plan, until I discovered these other pics.
#2
This is my main reason for wanting to do ALL of them antique white with black granite tops. Isn't this beautiful!!?! And we will have hardwood in our kitchen so that gives me a good idea of how it will all look... or there is
#3
This kitchen is colored like I have mine planned to be right now, but what do you think about the same colored countertops on both the black and antique white?? (instead of the opposite color on each)
Just looking for some advice, so what do you like best #1, #2 or #3?

i think the black counter tops looks great with the antique cabinets! my only remark though, is that the Black granite shows A LOT MORE smudges/water marks than the lighter tops and thus need constant drying/wiping down...but then your'e guranteed to have a constant cleaner counter :-) ....have fun deciding, i think all three choices look great!

Oh the antique white with the black tops is just gorgeous!!!!!!

All of those combinations look really nice together. I personally like #2 the best, though. Those cabinets are GORGEOUS! I love them with the dark counters too.

I like #2 best...beautiful!

Not sure that you can go wrong with any of these choices! I love the idea of # 1 the best, though. :)

I like the black counter tops with the cabinets but all black... not the different colors for the bar vs. the main part. I think it will keep it looking less "trendy" by sticking with all the same color counter tops.

I will agree with the other commenter that you may drive yourself crazy with black granite. Ever tried to clean a bathroom with black tile or a black sink? It is totally impossible to get completely clean.

I love #2!

definitely #2 looks best, but the other comments are correct about always having to wipe black tops. Every drop or spec shows up, then u wipe, then there's streaks!! I personally would go with #3 for being lowest maintenance, though not as much contrast with the light cabinets, but would definitely go same color on island whatever u choose. R u totally confused yet??!

I like the contrasting (black) island best. Just to break it up some. I have dark counter tops, too, and I don't know if I will get them again because they show EVERYTHING. The antique white is gorgeous!

I love love love #1, just the opposite with the island & cabinets like you want. I think it's beautiful! I've been following your blog awhile. Can't wait to see the pics of the finished house!

I love kitchen #2. I also agree with glory girl and her comments on keeping the black counter tops clean.

hey, i was just watching "bang for your buck" on hgtv this weekend, and they were redoing kitchens. anyway, it seemed like everyone kept doing their island a different color from their countertops, but then the designer kept knocking them for it. i personally also like all the counter tops to be alike...just an idea. i love the antique white cabinets!

We just did antique white shaker cabinets on the outside, and dark stained maple shaker cabinets for the island, with brown suede granite on both. My blog will have pictures of it today or tomorrow if you want to take a peek. I;m really happy with it! (The granite was just put in today--the guys haven't even left yet.)

I know exactly what you are going through--picking the colours for everything was the most stressful part of our renovation.

#1 or #2...after it's finished can we switch houses???? *grin*

Jennifer said...

I like #2 the best, but would chose #3 for the fact it's lower maintenance. I don't like switching up the countertops, but then again it just isn't my personality. Can't wait to hear what you decide!

Love #2, but like someone else said, the dark granite counter tops show the smudges, etc. Love the look though!

You might as well move to Minnesota and build with us! We are looking at the same cabinet style...antigue white with a glaze with wood floors and granite countertops. We won't have black, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE all 3 choices. I like # 1 the most. Keep the pics coming. I may just have to copy your house as we go along. We will be starting to pick stuff this week. Wish us luck!

I love #2... it looks awesome!!

Probably #3 would be the most practical because of the lighter color counter tops. They are all pretty!

I finally posted ours today if you want to see light cupboards, dark island, all the same countertops. The countertops are brown suede granite--not extremely dark and stuff is not showing much at all. We are really happy with it.
